Conscious DietitianLiving The Best Life
Spring time is when nature awakes. There is movement, there is creativity, there is flow.
Spring is characterized by ‘Yang’ energy.
The masculine energy of life. It’s time to move forward with the determination of the unlimited opportunities life has for us.
But first, we must release.

Qi (Life Force)

Qi is the life force that flows through all things. Everything in the universe derives from qi. When qi flows properly, all things are in harmony and function correctly; when qi is blocked, problems arise.
According to Chinese medicine, the Liver and Gallbladder correspond to the Spring season.
The liver being the center for detoxification is encouraging us to release, to find lightness in our life and balance to our Qi.
All on a Mind-BodySpirit Level.

Mind -Spirit

Heaviness is more than just physical. Heavy mood and heavy stress can cause emotional pain. Whenever we feel burdened, there is weight to be shed such as deep pain and negative emotions. Spring is asking us to clean our mind and let go of what no longer serves us. It could be anger, frustrations or resentment. In Chinese medicine they believe that stress, anxiety and emotional pain negatively affects Liver Qi.

Find lightness in what you eat and drink. Reduce stimulants such as coffee and energy drinks. We don’t need it, Spring is Yang energy after all. There is natural energy in the air and we must find it by bringing balance to ourselves first. Choose the healthiest foods and don’t overeat.
Spring is the time to say yes to your body and your nutrition. Pack lots of greens in with your meals (I eat 1-2-3 which means I include vegetables with every meal of mine). Read or watch my video on ‘what is the 1-2-3’ by clicking here.
Think about eating seasonal fruits and vegetables such as spring onions and greens, cabbage, watercress, asparagus, rhubarb and gooseberries. Don’t settle for cheap and processed foods as these also affects your Qi.

Key Points To A Heathy Spring

?Let Go of Old Resentments and Start Fresh: Grudges and resentments are indigestible and can do damage to your Qi. Practice forgiveness.
?Healthy Inside: Include seasonal vegetables, whole grain carbohydrates and lots of organic protein, including sustainable fish as part of your diet. Don’t settle for less than you deserve! Nutritionally and non-nutritionally!
?Move: Get outside and take long walks in nature, observe the changes going on all around you, and invite change in. Join an exercise or yoga class.
